Welcome 2018

Hello SIP Ambassadors, welcome to our first newsletter of 2018. I hope you all enjoyed your seasonal break and managed to spend some quality time with your family and friends. Did you make any New Year’s resolutions?  Personally, I’m not a fan, but I think a new year provides the perfect opportunity to shake off the stuff that could’ve gone better and to find a new focus for the year ahead.

Cogent Learn

Have you seen our new SIP Ambassador Discussion Board and Chatroom yet?

So far we’ve had little activity, so PLEASE make the effort to visit, and contribute as I don’t want to be talking to myself! Better still, why not introduce yourself via the discussion board. I’d love us to be visibly more connected as a group.

Please get in touch if you’ve forgotten your password to access Cogent Learn

You’ll remember that we have initiated an award system to thank you and recognise the contributions to your careers and outreach work.

All activity logged in 2016 and 2017 has been collated. You can check out who won what on the ‘Roll on Honour’ section on Cogent Learn. Individual Ambassadors will receive their award by email.

  • Achievement Certificates went to all 51 Ambassadors that logged the minimum 1 day activity we ask of a SIP Ambassador
  • 45 Bronze Certificates went to all Ambassadors who logged between 1.5 to 3 days activity
  • 15 received Silver Certificates for logging between 3.5 to 6.5 days activity
  • Gold Certificates were awarded to the 2 Ambassadors that logged between 7 – 9.5 days of activity
  • And 6 Ambassadors earned Platinum Certificates for logging over 10 days activity
  • The annual Ambassador of the Year Award, went to Judith Gregory who managed to log 30 days of careers and outreach activity over 2016 and 2017

We hope you agree that Don Clark deserved a special Outstanding Contribution Award for logging an amazing 100 activities since becoming a SIP Ambassador in 2015.

Now that 2018 has arrived, you will start with a clean sheet and the certificates will be awarded purely based on the activities recorded through Cogent Learn. Don’t worry, I’ll keep reminding you through the year.

You can access our new Photographic Consent form on Cogent Learn

Please take 2 minutes to let us know what fantastic Ambassador work you’ve been carrying out this month using the online form. It’s important for us to track the impact of the SIP Ambassador programme as we can use your impact to help us to win tenders. Don't forget you can anew earn End of Year award certificates too!

For those of you who are also STEM Ambassadors, you’ll see that STEM Learning have made some big changes to their website. When you sign in you will see your new dashboard where they have
organised all of your activities and matches in one place - past and present.

The area has been designed to enhance your experience of the STEM Ambassadors programme and enables you to communicate directly with those looking for a STEM Ambassador. We are no longer able to search for opportunities for you, so in the future we will only be promoting opportunities that come directly to Cogent Skills.  If you work with any school liaison partners, please ask them to send me their future requests for support.
