Hello SIP Ambassadors, you’ve done a great job supporting schools last month. March is going to be an exciting and busy month with some major events coming up in the calendar, please read on to find out more.

Enterprising Science

Three of our new Ambassadors, including Kate pictured below, recently had their first experience supporting schools. All three supported the Enterprising Science programme that’s being delivered in schools across Cheshire and Warrington, Greater Manchester and Kent and Medway. We’ve had some really positive feedback from the students and teachers.

“Three students left the room talking about how much they wanted a career in science. Ana was a great example of a working scientist” teacher from Broad Oak

I learnt “That there is much more to medicine and what happens to it before it can be used” student from Deanery

I learnt “That nearly everything uses science and science can open doors to other similar businesses” student from Irlam and Cadishead College

We’re looking forward to the first Enterprising Science Challenge Day taking place at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester on 26th March. If you’d like to join us and share your own career story with the students, please get in touch.

SIP Ambassador Awards

Following the launch of the new SIP Ambassador Award scheme to recognise the outstanding contributions of all the SIP Ambassadors, to significant careers and outreach work, Awards were presented last month.

Judith Gregory, Senior Scientist from GSK receives her SIP Ambassador of the Year Award from Cogent Skills, Joanna Woolf. Don Clark, CSI Manager from Pfizer receives his Outstanding Contribution Award from Pfizer’s Head of HR at Sandwich, Sarah Sainsbury.

Liz Greenfield, Head of Human Resources, North-East Region and UK HR Director at Pfizer, who leads on the Science Industry Partnership Careers Strand, congratulating Judith, Don and all the Ambassadors said: “Our UK wide team of SIP Careers Ambassadors are doing an amazing outreach job in schools and colleges, connecting classroom learning with real careers in our STEM sector.

Huge thanks to Judith, Don and indeed all our Ambassadors to support the SIP’s mission to inspire, inform and support young people. They are doing a fantastic job in delivering interactive science-based careers sessions and challenging stereotypes around working in science.”
